Plant-Based Protein from Organic Chickpeas
Chickpeas are among the most versatile and widely used plant proteins. Chickpeas are legumes and an essential ingredient in many plant-based dishes, including hummus, falafels, and chickpea omelets.
We recommend soaking chickpeas in plenty of water at room temperature overnight or for 8-12 hours. Longer soaking reduces cooking time. Rinse soaked chickpeas thoroughly under running water and cook over medium heat for 1-2 hours. Remove foam from boiling chickpeas using a slotted spoon.
How to use?
In addition to many ethnic dishes, chickpeas are suitable for both hot and cold recipes.
Use chickpeas in soups, salads, veggie patties, and stews. Cooked chickpeas are delicious with olive oil, salt, and spices like cumin, turmeric, and chili. Oven-roasted chickpeas are a great addition to salads and soups.
Mashed chickpeas also work well in baking. Like mung beans, chickpeas can also be used for sprouting.
